PNP’s CEO Wayne Lavery was the marketing manager for Health First Doctors Offices, the largest group of corporately run medical facilities in Canada. There, Wayne introduced a number of marketing solutions, including patient newsletters, identifying a niche market opportunity. After an exhaustive competitive review, Patient News was established and we produced and mailed our first patient newsletter for Dr. Paul Piccinnini (dentist to the Toronto Argonauts) in 1993.
The same year Wayne and Karen Galley, co-owner and President, moved to Haliburton where the Patient News headquarters is located today. Karen’s background in sales and business management drove the development of our excellent customer servicing guidelines, unique business management strategies, and core cultural decisions earning Patient News an early reputation as a great company to work with. Together they developed a team of dedicated and talented marketers, with a special and unique corporate culture.
From the start we had our eye on product development and excellence in innovation and quality. Our patient newsletter core product quickly grew to direct mail, new patient newsletters, practice brochures, referral cards, patient surveys, and innovative solutions like our unbelievable market research and our amazing Marketing Performance Dashboard. We have a pretty cool story. As we approached the millennium year (that was way back in 2000 when everyone thought our computer systems worldwide would explode), we determined that we had a product that would be extremely competitive in the US. Karen, along with Joanne Bishop (VP), led the launch in February 2000 at the Chicago Midwinter Meeting. The tremendous welcome we had from our initial US clients lead to expansion across the country. Subsequently Patient News became the largest provider of customized newsletters in North America.
