Patient News’ CEO and co-owner Wayne Lavery was the Marketing Manager for Health First Doctors Offices, the largest group of corporately run medical facilities in Canada. We produced and mailed our first patient newsletter for Dr. Paul Piccininni (dentist to the Toronto Argonauts) in 1993. That same year, Wayne and Karen Galley, President and co-owner, moved to Haliburton where the Patient News headquarters is located today.
Karen’s background in sales and business management drove the development of our excellent customer servicing guidelines, unique business management strategies, and core cultural decisions earning Patient News an early reputation as a great company to work with. Together they developed a team of dedicated and talented expert marketers with a special and unique corporate culture.
From the start, we had our eye on product development and excellence in innovation and quality. Our patient newsletter core product quickly grew to direct mail, new-patient newsletters, practice brochures, referral cards, and patient surveys, to innovative solutions like our unsurpassed market research and our unparalleled – Practice ZEBRATM. As we approached the millennium year (way back when everyone thought computer systems worldwide would explode), we determined that we had a product that would be extremely competitive in the US. Karen, along with Joanne Bishop (VP), led the launch into the States at the Chicago Midwinter Meeting in February 2000. The tremendous welcome we had from our initial US clients lead to rapid expansion across the country. Subsequently Patient News has become the largest provider of customized dental marketing newsletters in North America.

Causes Close To Our Hearts
We support various staff-driven initiatives from food drives to cancer walks to heart and stroke benefits. We’ve sponsored several dental missions, contributing thousands of dollars to the well-being of families in Honduras and through Climb for a Cause.
We’re proud of our support of Haliburton County’s Volunteer Dental Outreach. They assist folks who have oral health needs but don’t have the funds to afford regular dentistry.
For many years, Patient News has contributed to the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry’s Give Back a Smile program to help restore smiles of victims of domestic violence.
The team at Patient News is proud of our involvement with the village of Kamengo. We assisted them by setting up 9 computer classrooms, kicking off a water project to replace dilapidated facilities, initiated and installed solar lights (to replace dangerous oil lanterns and to allow kids to read and learn at night), as well as supporting much-needed medical and dental treatment.
